The Sound Medicine of Ceremony
In my ceremonies, sound is one of the most powerful medicines we work with. The main instruments I use are my voice, rattle, drum, and bird feathers - each carrying its own vibration, story, and spirit.
My voice is my first instrument, carrying medicine prayers and song primarily in Spanish. The whistles, which echo the songs of the birds, call in safety , the spirits of air and the ancestors who will guide us. The rattle awakens energy, clears stagnation, and helps release what no longer serves. The drum grounds us into the heartbeat of Pachamama, reminding us of our connection to the Earth. The bird feathers help me fan away stagnant energy and offer the energy to the fire, allowing it to be transmuted into light and renewal.
Through ceremony, I sing in gratitude - giving thanks to nature for not abandoning us, for being our ally and constant friend. I sing in remembrance. I sing in prayer. I sing to the wind, the water, the trees, and the fire - thanking them for knowing our pain, for holding our grief, and for staying near even when we forget to listen. My songs are love letters to the elements - simple, humble ways of saying thank you, thank you, thank you for continuing to walk with us.
These sacred sounds help open our hearts so we can receive the medicine more fully. They speak to our spirits - calling back parts of ourselves that may have left during times of pain or trauma, gently bringing our spirit home.
Sound healing bypasses the mind and moves through frequency - it’s felt at a cellular level. Even if someone doesn’t understand the words in Spanish, the vibration reaches them. It’s as if we are inside an orchestra of love and nature, held by a living container of sound, prayer, and magic.
The sounds also help us release the heaviness we’ve been carrying - the pain, the sadness, the grief. As that energy moves, it leaves our bodies and is lovingly swallowed by the Earth - by PachaMama - who knows how to compost and transform it. Music also reminds us of joy, love and hope. Sometimes it flows through tears, breath, or stillness. It’s an energetic cleansing, a gentle releasing, supported by music and the unseen forces holding us.
Each ceremony’s music is intuitively curated for the group present - a unique transmission woven for that moment in time. With every beat, tone, and breath, I am calling on the forces of nature - the wind, the water, the forest, the fire, Pachamama, and the ancestors - to support our collective healing.
Through these sounds and songs, we remember that nature is alive, that we are part of this Earth in a greater way than we often realize, and that healing is, at its heart, an act of gratitude - a homecoming through song, beauty, and prayer.
